Fantassin 20mm WWII Finnish Painting walkthrough
Prime your model with a matt black, making sure the entire model is covered.
Undercoat trousers and jacket with a 1:1 mix of Vallejo (Model Colour) German Fieldgrey WWII and Vallejo (Panzer Aces) White (German winter tank crew).
Undercoat hands and faces with Americana Burnt Sienna.
Undercoat all webbing and gun straps with Foundry Rawhide A.
Undercoat the wood on the rifle with Americana Asphaltum.
Undercoat Fur on hats with Foundry Boneyard B.
Wash over fur on hats when dry with Foundry Brown Wash.
When the fur hats are dry lightly brush over the hat with an old brush using Foundry Boneyard B. When doing this you should use a dry brush method making sure there is only a thin, slightly dry amount of paint on the brush and applying with a downward flicking motion.

Highlight the flesh with GW Dwarf Flesh by painting the raised areas of the hands and face leaving the undercoat showing in the deepest recesses.

Add a second highlight on the flesh with GW Elf Flesh directly on top of the first highlight leaving some of the dwarf flesh showing to create depth.

Highlight trousers and jacket with a 1:2 mix of Vallejo (Model colour) German Fieldgrey WWII and Vallejo (Panzer Aces) White (German winter tank crew). Leaving the undercoat showing in the folds of the cloth and where shadow would be cast. Make sure to cover most of the cloth.

Add a second highlight to the cloth with Vallejo (Panzer Aces) White (German winter tank crew). This should be applied directly on the top of the first highlight again leaving some of the first highlight showing to create depth.

Add a few final highlights here and there on the highest points of the cloth with Vallejo offwhite.

Highlight the wood on the rifle with GW Foundation Calthon Brown to give the impression of wood grain. This can be done with either dots or lines.

Paint the metal on the rifle with Vallejo (Model Colour) Gunmetal grey.

Highlight webbing and gun straps with Foundry Rawhide B, leaving the undercoat showing in the recesses of folds.

Add a second highlight to webbing and gun straps with Foundry Rawhide C, directly on top of the first highlight leaving some of it showing to create depth.

Paint any hat showing underneath the fur or soft caps with a 1:1 mix of Vallejo (Model Colour) German Field Grey WWII and black. Highlight this with German Field Grey WWII, then add a 1:1 mix of German field Grey WWII and Vallejo (Panzer aces) White (German Winter Tank Crew) for the second highlight.

Finally paint boots with Anita’s charcoal.

Your figure is now ready for basing!
